Increase The Performance of Your Computer With Spyware Protection Software

There are a variety of reasons why a computer gets slowed down.
One of the most common reasons for a computer slowing down is
spyware, adware and malware. Getting spyware protection software
should be up at the top of your list.

The other reasons for slowing pc performance include
viruses, improper maintenance, older configuration,
software/OS consuming lot of memory, too many icons
on the desktop, memory overload etc.

Improper maintenance is a common reason for computer
slowing down. Proper maintenance includes reducing
the number of icons on your desktop. Keep the desktop
icons to minimum. Many people are in the habit of
storing data on the desktop. Keep most of your data
in the drives other than the drive on which the
operating system is installed. The most common
drive for installation of operating system is C: drive.
Hence you must store in the other drives that is D:, E:, F:
etc. there are two benefits of doing this. Firstly your
computer speed will increase, secondly if your computer
ever crashes due to OS failure then it is easier to
retrieve data from the other drives.

Carry out defragmentation of disks regularly.
Defragmentation increases the access speed as
the memory is stored in an orderly fashion. For
defragmentation go to My computer > C: drive or
other drives> Properties > Tools > Defragmentation >
Defragment now. Defragment all the drives one by one.
Also frequently delete all *.chk or *.tmp files.
Deleting file check files with an extension .chk
increases the speed of your computer considerably.

Viral infections also slow down computers
frequently. Buy anti virus software. There
are many anti virus software available in the
market. There are some downloadable free anti virus
software programs available on the internet. One is Avast!
antivirus software, which is available for free
download. However with freely available anti virus
software, the usual shortcoming is that they do
not provide real time protection. After installing
the anti virus software carry out a thorough scan.
Anti virus software usually deletes any virus
present in the computer. After this your
computer may become a bit faster.

Spyware is one of the commonest reasons
for slowing a computer. “Many of the student
computers we see have become nearly unusable
because of spyware their owners have
downloaded unwittingly.”1 Spyware are
malicious programs which get installed from
the internet. These programs keep communicating
with third parties when on the internet and
hence may slow down your computer. "For
unsuspecting users, spyware has become the
most 'popular' download on the Internet."2

Spyware usually downloads other spyware and
installs other programs. To get rid of spyware
there are some free programs available on the
internet. Lavasoft’s Adaware is a one of them.
However most of these free anti spyware software
do not provide real time protection. For real
time spyware protection you may need to buy a
commercial version of anti spyware software.
Getting rid of spyware will increase the speed of
your computer to a great extent.
